The Liberal…or the Libertarian?

Nothing says “liberty” like Lady Liberty herself!

“Cowboy T, you sound a lot like a Libertarian!”

Yep, it’s come up again. It always comes up. 🙂 Even Mark Levin said it recently, a few weeks ago. Perhaps it’s time to have that discussion, since it’s been a bit over eight years since we touched on it. My Conservative brothers and sisters really don’t seem to like the “L” word…especially when it’s coming out of a pro-Second-Amendment activist such as myself.

The short version: I am in fact a Liberal, not a Libertarian. And here, I will explain why, specifically, that is the case. We’re going to discuss the difference.

With that said, we Liberals most certainly should be collaborating with our Libertarian brothers and sisters far, far more than we do. Turns out we’re natural allies in quite a few areas. We don’t do that right now; matter of fact, we tend to effectively tell ’em, “talk to the hand” and brush them off. We shouldn’t do that. And I will explain why that is the case, as well.

We have upgraded our Internet connection!

As of last night, we have executed our own little “Operation Warp Speed” here at the Liberal’s Gun Corner! 🙂

Hey, I’m a geek, I do puns! It’s only logical. 🙂

(I know, I know, sorry, but it was too good to pass up…. 😀 )

But seriously, though, we now have two orders of magnitude more upload speed than before to serve this podcast. Hooray! The Web server got moved over to the bigger pipe last night. Naturally, this meant a new IP address for the Web server, which meant DNS updates. Hopefully by now the new DNS settings have propagated around the world. So far, two of the big ones, Layer 3’s DNS and Google’s DNS, seem to have updated, which is a really good sign. If someone you know still cannot get to us, please have them email cowboyt “aht” liberalsguncorner “dawt” com so I can look into it.

We are now “vaccinated” against Internet connection bottlenecks. Hehehe! 😀

Episode 59: Gun Bans: My Fellow Liberals, Our “Baby” Has Some Serious Ugliness that We Need to Address….

The end goal….

I wish today’s post were just an “April Fools” joke. Sadly, it isn’t. Far from it.

If there’s anything that nobody wants to hear, it’s that their baby has some ugliness.

As Liberals, we believe in the Constitution. We believe in liberty. That’s why the whole LGBTQ+ rights movement resonates so strongly with so many of us. It’s why we chafe–at least, publicly–when we hear of racism. And it’s why we recoil so strongly when someone who’s not part of “us”, especially a Conservative Republican, aims a criticism at us.

It’s just as important for us to recognize problems with our own “house”, or our own “baby”, if you will. And we do have a problem with our “baby” that we need to address. Many of us Liberals did and do vote for the Democrats, for various reasons. Problem: now that they’re in power at the Federal level, they are likewise going after not just the First Amendment, but also the Second Amendment. They’re apparently even willing to seriously consider getting rid of the Senate filibuster, from all accounts, in order to do it. We’ve got to address that.

How does this happen? That’s what we’re going to talk about this time. We’re also going to discuss what to do about it.

…what happens when “only the police and military have guns”. Is this really what we want?
